Random Fact About Castle
One interesting fact about castles is that they were not always made of stone. In fact, some of the earliest castles were made of wood and earth. These early fortifications were built in the 9th and 10th centuries and were often used as a means of protection against invading armies. It wasn’t until the 12th century that stone castles became more prevalent, as they were sturdier and more difficult for enemies to breach. However, even then, wood was still used for some parts of the castle, such as the roofs and floors. It wasn’t until the 13th century that stone became the main material used for castle construction. This evolution in building materials showcases the ingenuity and adaptability of medieval societies in their constant need for protection and defense.
