The game was called “rounders” and was brought over to America by English immigrants. As it gained popularity in the United States, the rules and gameplay evolved to what we know as baseball today. Interestingly, the first official game of baseball was played in 1846 in Hoboken, New Jersey, and it wasn’t until 1869 that the Cincinnati Red Stockings became the first professional baseball team. Today, baseball is enjoyed by millions of fans around the world and continues to be a beloved sport with a rich history. ### Baseball Story Time Title: The Great Baseball Caper Part 1: The Beginning It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and the Smith family had decided to have a fun day out at the local baseball game. Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, and their two children, Lily and Ben, were all excited to watch their favorite team, the Blue Jays, play against the Red Sox. As they settled into their seats, the announcer’s voice boomed through the stadium, “Ladies and gentlemen, let the game begin!” Part 2: The Super Fan Lily, the youngest in the family, was a die-hard Blue Jays fan. She wore her team’s jersey, painted her face with their colors, and even had a giant foam finger. She cheered and screamed every time her team made a play. As the game went on, Lily noticed a man sitting a few rows in front of them. He had a huge foam hat in the shape of a baseball, and it seemed like he was the biggest Red Sox fan in the stadium. Lily couldn’t help but giggle at his antics. Part 3: The Missing Ball Halfway through the game, Lily’s brother Ben caught a foul ball. He was ecstatic and showed it off to his family. But just as they were about to celebrate, they noticed something strange – the ball was signed by the Red Sox! “Hey, this isn’t a Blue Jays ball!” exclaimed Mr. Smith. Just then, the man with the giant foam hat turned around and started accusing the Smith family of stealing his team’s ball. Part 4: The Chase The Smith family denied any wrongdoing, but the man was insistent. He even called for security, causing a commotion in the stands. Lily’s parents tried to calm the man down, but he wouldn’t listen. In the midst of the chaos, the ball slipped out of Ben’s hand and started rolling down the stands. The man and the Smith family, along with security, chased after it, causing even more chaos and hilarity. Part 5: The Real Culprit As the ball rolled to the bottom of the stands, it was intercepted by a young boy who proudly showed it off to his dad. The man with the foam hat immediately recognized the boy as his son and realized that he had accidentally given the wrong ball to the Smith family. Embarrassed, he apologized to the Smiths and the game continued as normal. Lily’s family couldn’t stop laughing at the crazy turn of events. Part 6: The Happy Ending In the end, the Blue Jays won the game and Lily’s family celebrated with high-fives and cheers. The man with the giant foam hat even joined in on the celebration, now proudly wearing a Blue Jays cap. As they left the stadium, Lily turned to her family and said, “Well, that was definitely the most exciting game of baseball we’ve ever been to!” And they all agreed, it was a memorable and funny day at the ballpark. ### More Coloring Pages!
