In 1817, a Russian engineer named Ivan Osipovich Polzunov built a prototype roller coaster to study the effects of high speeds and G-forces on the human body. It consisted of a 70-foot wooden ramp with a sled attached to it, and riders would slide down at speeds of up to 15 miles per hour. This early roller coaster was a breakthrough in understanding the physics of motion and paved the way for the development of the thrilling amusement park rides we know and love today. ### Roller Coaster Story Time Title: The Wacky Roller Coaster Adventure Part 1: It was a beautiful summer day and the Johnson family decided to visit the amusement park. The kids, Lily and Max, were ecstatic as they ran towards the entrance, but their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, were a little hesitant. Mr. Johnson, who was afraid of heights, was especially dreading one thing – the roller coaster. However, he didn’t want to disappoint his kids, so he put on a brave face and followed them towards the ride. Part 2: As they reached the roller coaster, Lily and Max jumped in line while Mr. and Mrs. Johnson waited behind. The ride was called “The Wacky Coaster” and it had loops, twists, and turns that made it one of the most popular rides in the park. Mrs. Johnson tried to calm her husband’s nerves by saying, “Don’t worry, honey. It’s just a ride. It’s not like it’s a real roller coaster.” But her words didn’t seem to have much effect on Mr. Johnson. Part 3: Finally, it was their turn to get on the ride. Lily and Max hopped into the front row while Mr. and Mrs. Johnson reluctantly sat in the back row. As the ride started, the kids were screaming with excitement, while Mr. Johnson was screaming out of fear. Part 4: The first loop came and Mr. Johnson closed his eyes tightly, holding onto the safety bar for dear life. As they went through other twists and turns, Mrs. Johnson couldn’t stop laughing at her husband’s reactions. She even managed to capture a few funny pictures of him. Part 5: Just when Mr. Johnson thought the ride was over, they suddenly went through a dark tunnel and he let out a blood-curdling scream. But when they emerged from the tunnel, he realized it was just a spray of water that had scared him. Part 6: As the ride came to an end, Mr. Johnson was relieved that it was over. But to his surprise, he found himself laughing and even asking to go on the ride again. The whole family was in stitches as they made their way out of the roller coaster. Part 7: From that day on, Mr. Johnson was no longer afraid of roller coasters. In fact, he became a fan and went on every ride in the park with his family. And every time they passed by “The Wacky Coaster,” they would all have a good laugh and remember their hilarious adventure. The Johnson family’s trip to the amusement park turned out to be a roller coaster of emotions, but they all had a fantastic time and made memories that they would cherish for a lifetime. ### More Coloring Pages!
