1 Corinthians 13: Love Is Patient Coloring Pages

1 Corinthians 13, the best-known verses: five free coloring pages for verses 4 through 8, the "love is patient" passage, in the King James words. Each sheet sets one verse in big hollow letters inside a decorative frame, with bold kids' frames and finer adult frames.

This chapter comes from Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth and is often read at weddings. The King James Version uses the word charity, an older English word that here means love. So "Charity suffereth long, and is kind" means love is patient and kind. Verses 4 to 7 list what love does and does not do: it does not envy, is not puffed up, thinks no evil, and "beareth all things." Verse 8 says "Charity never faileth."

The five sheets work well as a week of talking about kindness at home or in Sunday school, one verse a day. They also make a sweet set for a wedding shower, an anniversary or Valentine's Day, framed together or tucked into a card.

For color, reds, pinks and soft purples suit a passage about love. Older colorers might add gold to the word charity each time it appears.
