Genesis 1:1 Coloring Pages

Four free Genesis 1:1 coloring pages with the King James words in big hollow letters inside a decorative frame. Two sheets use a bold, simple style for kids and two use a finer style for older children and adults.

This is the very first verse of the Bible: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." It opens the first chapter of Genesis, which goes on to describe God making light, the sky, land and sea, plants, the sun and moon, animals and people, day by day.

For a child, the meaning is simple: before anything else was here, God was, and he made everything we can see.

These sheets fit well at the start of a lesson on the creation days. Children can color "heaven" in sky blues and "earth" in greens and browns, then draw a small picture for each day of creation around the frame. Because it is the first verse of the Bible, it also makes a good first memory verse for young children.
