Matthew 22:37 Coloring Pages

Four free Matthew 22:37 coloring pages showing the King James words in big hollow letters inside a decorative frame. There are two bold kids’ sheets and two finer sheets for older colorists.

In the Gospel of Matthew, a lawyer from among the Pharisees asks Jesus which commandment in the law is the greatest. Jesus answers with this verse, calls it the first and great commandment, and then adds a second: love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus is saying to love God with everything we have: our feelings, our whole self, and our thoughts. Nothing is left out.

The verse names three things, heart, soul and mind, so children can color each one differently, perhaps red for heart, purple for soul and blue for mind. Then talk about one way to love God with each. If you teach the second commandment the following week, these sheets pair well with it, and the two can be displayed side by side on a classroom wall.
