Paul wrote this to the church at Philippi near the end of his letter, right after telling them to rejoice in the Lord always. The next verse promises that the peace of God will keep their hearts and minds.

In the King James wording, "be careful for nothing" means don't be anxious or worried about anything. Instead of worrying, the verse says to tell God what you need in prayer, and to say thank you while you ask. "Supplication" simply means asking humbly.
