John 1:1 Coloring Pages

Four free John 1:1 coloring pages with the King James words in big hollow letters inside a decorative frame. Two sheets are drawn in a bold style for kids and two in a finer style for adults.

This is the first verse of the Gospel of John. It begins with the same words as the first verse of Genesis, "In the beginning," and a few verses later John says that "the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us," speaking of Jesus.

For a child, the verse means that Jesus, called "the Word" here, was there from the very beginning, was with God, and is God.

The verse is short and repeats "the Word" three times, which makes it a good memory verse. Once the sheet is colored, read it together, cover one word with a sticky note, and read it again until the children can say it all from memory. Coloring each "Word" in the same color helps them see the pattern. It also pairs naturally with a Genesis 1:1 sheet.
